Addressing Gender Equality In The Republic of Yemen​​

Gender inequality is very rampant in Yemen and it is important to note that change in this sector will take time. The role that women have held in Yemeni culture for centuries cannot be reversed in a mere 15 years. In light of this, we realize that we have to start somewhere and thus, 7% ($17,359,156) of our budget will be spent on gender equality initiatives. This money will go to the non profit Oxfam that is currently working on this issue in Yemen. Oxfam provides women with economic opportunities by providing them with loans, seeds, tools and even farming advice. Oxfam also protect women from domestic violence by proving abused women with legal counsel and advice. Oxfam is also working at the legislative level by pushing for laws that recognize the rights of women in society. Finally, this organization is working on a campaign that will see more women holding protests and demanding a fair place in society. The work of this organization will put Yemen on a fine path to achieving goal # 3.
