Addressing Education In The Republic of Yemen

Currently, 91% of Yemeni children are enrolled in a primary school. It is due to this fact that only 10% ($24,799,880) of our budget will be spent on education since Yemen will likely achieve this goal by 2015. Twenty percent (20%) of the total above total will be allocated to the non profit Counterpart International to aid in its recruiting efforts in rural communities that urge families to send their children to school. Our aim is to achieve a 100% enrollment rate of Yemeni youth in primary schools. The remaining 80% of the money will be given to the Ministry of Education of Yemen to perform renovations of its schools. Although Yemen has a high enrollment rate in primary schools, the quality of those schools are very mediocre. With this money, the education ministry can expand school sizes, buy new school equipment and invest in more school materials for the children. This will ensure that goal # 2 will be achieved by 2015 and maintained well afterwards.
